To Wallington Residents,
In one way or another, the COVID-19 crisis has had an impact on everyone including the Borough of Wallington and the Wallington Fire Department Family. It is with deep regret that we come to you again this year and formally announce that the 2020 Wallington Fire Department Holiday Parade will not take place.
There was an outpouring of support from the community after last year's cancellation and we had all intention's on running this year's parade, even starting with a preliminary meeting this past January. However, COVID-19 derailed the plans, including affecting the fire department community directly.
With the loss of Ex-Chief Dave Pinto and Ex-Captain John Hartos to COVID-19, our department truly had looked upon to the Saturday in November to lift the support of the community and rally behind a global pandemic that none of us had every experienced before. But the time is not yet right and we are still amid this lingering fog that envelopes us.
We have learned to live beside COVID-19, exercise our precautions and keep our families as safe as possible. And that is what we need to continue to do. The logistics of social distancing with large crowds, food handling procedures, health checks and executive orders makes it near impossible to run an effective parade this year.
We want everyone to continue what they are doing to keep themselves and their families safe. Listen to the proper and logical guidance, wear a mask and most importantly "be smart".
We want to see everyone next year on Saturday November 27, 2021 at t he Wallington Fire Department Holiday Parade 2021. Until then, keep your spirits lifted, embrace your loved ones and remember that all of the Wallington community wishes you and your family a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season.
